Luke and Gomer became friends Freshman year at the Franciscan University of Steubenville and 14 years later they started a podcast. The show oscillates between a conversation between just the two of us and interviews that we do together of other, fancier people. Sometimes we get explicit either by being too honest or by being too stupid. Either way, it's fun!

This is what happens when one guy had 3 hours of sleep and the other guy is 3 beers in before the conversation starts.

The Quote:

2434 A just wage is the legitimate fruit of work. To refuse or withhold it can be a grave injustice.221 In determining fair pay both the needs and the contributions of each person must be taken into account. "Remuneration for work should guarantee man the opportunity to provide a dignified livelihood for himself and his family on the material, social, cultural and spiritual level, taking into account the role and the productivity of each, the state of the business, and the common good."222 Agreement between the parties is not sufficient to justify morally the amount to be received in wages.

*221 *

Cf. Lev 19:13 - "You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning."

Deut 24:14-15 - 14 “You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brethren or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns; you shall give him his hire on the day he earns it, before the sun goes down (for he is poor, and sets his heart upon it); lest he cry against you to the Lord, and it be sin in you."

Jas 5:4 - "Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts."

*222 *
GS 67 § 2.
"This labor, whether it is engaged in independently or hired by someone else, comes immediately from the person, who as it were stamps the things of nature with his seal and subdues them to his will. By his labor a man ordinarily supports himself and his family, is joined to his fellow men and serves them, and can exercise genuine charity and be a partner in the work of bringing divine creation to perfection. Indeed, we hold that through labor offered to God man is associated with the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, Who conferred an eminent dignity on labor when at Nazareth He worked with His own hands. From this there follows for every man the duty of working faithfully and also the right to work. It is the duty of society, moreover, according to the circumstances prevailing in it, and in keeping with its role, to help the citizens to find sufficient employment. Finally, remuneration for labor is to be such that man may be furnished the means to cultivate worthily his own material, social, cultural, and spiritual life and that of his dependents, in view of the function and productiveness of each one, the conditions of the factory or workshop, and the common good."

They call themselves “MAPs” (minor-attracted persons). Many of them euphemistically refer to themselves as protectors of children and anti-abuse activists. Some like to use the label “NOMAP” (NO=”non-offending). The same people will also note their “aoa” (age of attraction) in their profile. It’s utterly surreal that the great and good at Twitter are scouring the platform of anti-trans content but are perfectly content with tolerating pedophile community-building.

Catechism of the Catholic Church - IntraText — WE BELIEVE

166 Faith is a personal act - the free response of the human person to the initiative of God who reveals himself. But faith is not an isolated act. No one can believe alone, just as no one can live alone.
You have not given yourself faith as you have not given yourself life. the believer has received faith from others and should hand it on to others. Our love for Jesus and for our neighbour impels us to speak to others about our faith. Each believer is thus a link in the great chain of believers. I cannot believe without being carried by the faith of others, and by my faith I help support others in the faith.

Red Pilled on Pope Francis (Dr Taylor Marshall #182) - YouTube — Dr Taylor Marshall and Timothy Gordon interview Patrick Coffin on the Pontificate of Pope Francis and discuss how they each came accept that Pope Francis was not merely unclear but promoting confusion within the Catholic Church. This working group, made up of Catholics and Protestants, aims to make the Churches aware of the phenomenon of paedophilia, to pass on information and to remove prejudices. The working group also wants to inform itself about everything that appears in the field of paedophilia.

Show Notes and Links

We recorded the day Trump signed an executive order against breaking up families, so we really didn't have time to process the ramifications. Let me make it clear, we are 100% against the punitive separation of children from their families. We are also 100% for the comprehensive immigration reform and greater work visas for immigrant labor. (Gomer is for the legalization of literally all drugs, so that will strip the cartels of most of their power, but we don't talk about that!)

What we are not for is the hype wagon of the left wing media and anti-Trumpkins out there. Nor are we interested in the Sessions-style biblical apologetics of the Trumpkin defenders. We are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-child. Some of these parents are sketchy. Some of these kids are being trafficked (a lot more than you think) and need to be saved. Some are criminals, some are forced into criminal behavior.

GOMER'S IGNORANCE
Gomer here: "I will claim more ignorance of the elevation of abuse under Trump's administration, really especially since the month of March. I do think it's due to the increase in illegal border crossings that usually drops off the closer we get to summer. I've spent all day today reading Vox and some others about the background to the anti-Trump recent outrage and have learned a lot. I also think the Colberts of the world are just so blind with Trump hatred (again, personally, I did not vote for him and never will) they will blame everything on him and not on a lack of space, of funds, or of personnel to help these kids.

We don’t know what happened after that Honduran girl was taken from her mother’s arms.

We don’t know if she was taken to a warehouse, to be housed with hundreds of other children who had been separated from their immigrant parents. We don’t know if she sat strapped in a car seat, squalling for her mother, near the big kids who let themselves cry only as they fall asleep on gym mats spread across the floor, behind a chain link fence.

We do know that policies that indiscriminately separate children from their migrant parents at our national border violate the sacred sovereignty of families. They need to be stopped.

But it’s not enough to condemn the treatment of a mother separated from her child without asking what should happen instead. There have been, unfortunately, too few solutions proposed to address a real problem: how should the identity of family members be verified at the border, to ensure that children are not being trafficked? On immigration reform, “the critical issue at hand isn’t canonical penalties, even if the concept has intrigued many.

Notes
Luke explains what happens when you drink that you're a twentysomething, but wake up realizing you're a thirtysomething. We talk about whether we're getting more virtuous or just getting older. Encounter Houston was a blast. Friends, food, fun, a Presidential Suite, Gomer leaving early to teach RCIA classes, and all that jazz. Gomer will be a speaker at Encounter Milwaukee in November if you still want to attend a great young adult conference.

From the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, literally hundreds of shots rang out, killing 58 people and causing hundreds to be injured. Supports New Rules on ‘Bump Stock’ Devices - The New York Times — Washington appears to be moving closer to new gun rules.

On Capitol Hill, support appeared to grow for a ban on the bump stock devices, either through regulation or legislation, as Republicans — who for decades have rejected any form of gun restrictions — began increasingly to speak out. Several leading Republicans, including Senator John Cornyn, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate, have raised serious questions about the devices.

In the House, Representative Carlos Curbelo, Republican of Florida, has drafted a measure banning bump stocks, which he said he planned to introduce on Thursday. He said his office had been “flooded” with calls from dozens of fellow Republicans who wanted to sign on.

“I think we are on the verge of a breakthrough when it comes to sensible gun policy,” Mr. Curbelo said.

His comments followed those of House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, who during an interview with MSNBC also raised questions about the conversion kits, and said he was open to legislation. “Clearly that’s something we need to look into,” Mr. Ryan said.

Separately, Representative Adam Kinzinger, Republican of Illinois, is circulating a letter among his colleagues, calling on the A.T.F. to re-evaluate bump stocks, which he said had “no place in civilized society.”

Stephen Paddock Chased Gambling’s Payouts and Perks - The New York Times — Last week, as a reward for his loyalty and gambling, Mr. Paddock stayed free of charge on the 32nd floor in one of the elite suites of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, one of his favorite places to play.
